Round table: Building a School of Humanitarian Leadership (SoHL) and a Middle East Initiative (MEI) to Build Regional Youth-Led Resilience

A round table to discuss how to build a School of Humanitarian Leadership across the Middle East-North Africa through a Middle-East Initiative to bring regional and field level humanitarian and private sector young leaders together. The of the the SoHL is to discuss the current impacts of Covid-19 on the humanitarian-development-peacebuilding situations across the region; and build local capacity to consult, collaborate and lead the humanitarian response.

The panel will use findings from the MENA region/global south, to examine how new forms of education are changing the educational landscape for young leaders in the HDP sectors across the region. It will also look at how new collaborations are evolving to use education/learning to strengthen local humanitarian capacity and leadership in conflict-affected countries. As this initiative is in the very early stages, this panel will take a less ‘academic’ and more of a ‘practitioner’ approach to the theme.

The MEI will be a Regional Platform where young leaders from conflict-affected countries will meet to build their capacity about “how they would like to see the HDP ecosystem in their region to develop further local leadership” through an Executive Humanitarian Leadership Course including: Innovation Cafe’s, Business Development Centers, Private Hubs; One-to-One, Small Group/Virtual Space Coaching/Mentoring; Round Table Dialogues; and Guest Speakers Series.
