Abstract

This panel welcomes interventions from practitioners, academics and policy makers on the changing role and import of specific humanitarian technologies and their geopolitical relevance (such as cryptocurrency or drones). We are particularly interested in the implications of the Great power rivalry between China and the US, the knock-on effects of USAID restrictions, EU sanctions (related to the Ukraine war) or regulatory initiatives (such as the EU AI act) or developments in UN procurement policies. We also welcome interventions comparing the use and functions of humanitarian technologies in the Global East, the Global South and the Global North.
