I am a Senior Lecturer in Humanitarian Studies and the Director of Studies (LSTM) of the LEAP programme (the LEAP programme (link is external) in Humanitarian Practice is a flexible master’s course designed by humanitarians for humanitarians managed by LSTM, the University of Manchester and the international NGO Médecins Sans Frontières).

Prior to my arrival to LSTM, I taught in the Hebrew University International Development Graduate programme for three years. Before that, I worked for eight years as a humanitarian field worker dealing with various emergencies and post-emergencies, especially in Africa.

I have an undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge, a post-graduate degree in Ethnology from the University of Paris (Nanterre) as well as a post-graduate degree in International Development & Humanitarian Work from the University of Paris (Sorbonne).

I have worked as Project Coordinator and Project Manager with leading international relief NGOs such as Médecins Sans Frontières and the International Rescue Committee. My humanitarian work led me to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Liberia, Nigeria, Ethiopia and other countries. My work included providing health to refugees, in managing local hospitals in post-conflict contexts and participated in the West-Africa Ebola response.

I teach the Complex Humanitarian Emergencies module in the Msc Humanitarian Studies programme, and participate in other LSTM onsite and online teaching.
