Abstract
The last decade has seen little critical analysis of food security and famine, and few peer-reviewed publications on these topics. This presentation discusses the changes in publications using the example of Disasters journal, which only published 17 articles on famine since 2000, but 92 in the twenty years before that. This trend is not limited to Disasters (Rubin, 2018). As an introduction to the panel, I will reflect on the possible reasons for this trend, and on how we can reverse it, and in the hope that this panel can be a start of this process.
