In this paper I would focus on the transformative work of informal queer humanitarian 'infrastructure' that emerged in 2022 in Poland as a response to two parallel crises at the borders with Belarus and Ukraine. Based on our experience as Queer Without Borders and Humanitarian LGBTQI+ Advisor to HLA/Save the Children, I would present how the informal group of local actors transformed local intersectional response to LGBTQI+ people on the move - and how localization fueled reciprocity, providing access and data on this underreported vulnerable group to INGOs and UN agencies, while giving the broader credibility, funding and advocacy opportunities to local actors. Based on our research - Beyond Protection. Intersectional humanitarian design to LGBTQI+ displacement (HLA/Kitchen Conflict) - I will show how pre-crisis solidarity might shape and inform the future locally-driven humanitarian action, especially for the vulnerable groups.
