Abstract

With the current challenges in humanitarian space and financing, humanitarian actors are increasingly heading to the Far East in order to address the enlarging gaps. Though the institutional donors from Japan, Korea and Taiwan are not new, their significance has been even more visible since early 2025. Still few humanitarian actors have been investing significant energy and resources in order to build a streategic relation with those donors, and is highly probable that they might take the same trajectory western donors have been taking. The paper will highligh what are the key points of interest that humanitarian actors need to understand in order to better outreach donors from the Far East, and provide strategies to build long term relations with them.
