Abstract

Museums have undergone many transformations since their advent and still today they continue to adapt to different temporal and spacial contexts. In this essay I will present and analyse a small participative project held in the first semester of 2018 in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) which aimed to integrate contemporary perspectives on gender equality issues to a historical temporary exhibition that commemorates the 100th year of the acquirement of the right to vote by women in German that will open at the Historisches Museum Frankfurt in August 2018. I will try to demonstrate how innovative interdisciplinary museological participative projects can become an instrument to the social role of museums through empowerment.
