Abstract

This panel will reflect on how sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (SEAH) as well as conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) are presently addressed and discuss potential new solutions, in particular those using digital technologies.
Regarding SEAH the panel will focus on the following aspects. Starting from the experiences of survivors – as a victim-centered approach requires – it will discuss how aid organizations can improve their understanding of the local context and empower the victims to design and drive their own solutions. It will also explore the challenges between addressing global commitments against SEAH and the Grand Bargain motto.
Last but not least, this panel will reflect on the ability of digital technologies to assist in the struggle against CRSV because there is a shortage of critical research in this domain. New types of responses brought by digital technology will be analyzed with a specific attention to digital affordance (privacy schemes to enforce anonymity for users, collected data classified, etc.).
