With this workshop I aim to gather human beings around the possibility of a situated, human, decolonized and hopefully feminist leadership.
Starting from the assumption that if we want to transform leadership in the humanitarian space, we also need to transform the way we learn, and the sources we learn from, I will propose a session where participants will be able to practice and experience some of the most common leadership dynamics, observe their own behavior, reflect on it and build collective knowledge with other participants.
I would like participants to approach this workshop as a performance, in the sense of something unique, an act of co-creation that can’t and won’t be replicated, and that will develop according to the unique traits of each participant.
But I would also like them to join with generosity, agency, and the awareness that co-creation will take place only if they contribute to it.
The workshop will alternate practice and reflection. The practical part will be built through methodologies borrowed from theater and performing arts, and will consist of simple participatory and activating exercises, that will bring participants to test their behaviors and beliefs in some of the most common group dynamics.
The theoretical part will be a dialogue, aiming at the collective production of meaning and knowledge around the idea of transformative leadership, based on the observation of the practice.
Some guiding questions will be:
Which leader do I want to be?
How does my positionality shape my leadership?
How did I build and how do I adjust my leadership?
What does “transformative leadership” mean to me?
Which models of leadership have guided me so far?
How can decolonial and feminist approaches inform and shape leadership?
