Session Description
In the human-itarian line of work, one important question keeps appearing on my horizon: how can compassion sustain us, empower us, and those we seek to assist?
This alternative session is an open space to gather, reflect, and share our thoughts, views, ideas, and experiences of compassion. Together, we will explore how compassion has guided us in both our personal and humanitarian journeys. Through storytelling, active listening, visualisation, and connection, this session hopes to offer a nurturing, participatory alternative to traditional panels in celebrating compassion not just as a feeling, but as the most important blueprint for humanitarian action.
We will reflect on moments when compassion is mobilised, sustained, and even challenged, and how it has shaped and transformed our work in the field.
Facilitator
Rayyan Haries is a humanitarian do-er and researcher with over 12 years of experience in disaster response, refugee crisis response, and diverse humanitarian initiatives across the globe. His interests lie in grassroots mobilisation and the role of compassion in humanitarian responses. Guided by a simple belief in kindness, he strives to bring at least one act of kindness a day to those he encounters.
An Invitation
Come join this reflective storytelling session. Bring your experiences, your stories, and your openness. Together, let’s reimagine how our compassion can help us build a better future in our human-itarian work.
