| Bio | Uladzislau (Vladislav) Kavaleuski brings diverse experience across the humanitarian and development sectors, having worked with both international organizations and local NGOs at national and global levels. He currently works as the Research and Knowledge Management Program Manager at the IFRC Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC) — a reference center advancing disaster resilience through research, innovation, and evidence-informed practice within the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement and the broader humanitarian sector. In this role, Vlad works across academic and practitioner communities to generate, curate, and operationalize research and evidence to improve the effectiveness and impact of humanitarian action. He leads several key initiatives at GDPC, including the global research grants program supporting community-based research in low- and middle-income countries, the knowledge management portfolio, and partnerships with academic institutions and networks. Since 2022, the GDPC research program has supported over 60 researchers from the Global South. Vlad is also an active member of the Red Cross Red Crescent Research Consortium, contributing to the RCRC Network’s collective efforts to strengthen evidence-based practice. Vlad holds a research-focused MA in Communication and Development Studies from Ohio University, with prior studies completed in Belarus. His research interests include anticipatory humanitarian action, disaster risk reduction, urban resilience, climate adaptation, as well as and the practical use of research in humanitarian settings, particularly how frontline practitioners access, apply, and co-produce evidence to support more informed, impactful humanitarian practice. |
