In this presentation, we will outline the principal areas of convergence between the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda and the Humanitarian - Development - Peace (HDP) Nexus, and introduce foundational principles to guide the future development of a feminist informed, context sensitive methodology. Although both agendas have followed parallel paths, their integration can generate transformative synergies if translated into concrete and context-sensitive methodologies.
The presentation seeks to contribute to the panel's critical debate from a ‘practical translation’ approach.
First, we will present key elements of the WPS-HDP convergence: reduction of vulnerabilities, localization, participation, protection, prevention and response to gender-based violence and gender-responsive relief and recovery.
Second, we will unpack core methodological principles for the operationalisation of the WPS-HDP convergence, including contextual analysis, conflict-sensitive approaches, human rights approaches, do no harm safeguards, mapping connectors and dividers, strengthening local capacities for peace, and focus on women's agency.
Finally, we will engage with panel's experts to compare findings and enrich the ongoing methodological development.
