In recent years, the Triple Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus has become a central framework for rethinking aid coordination and coherence in fragile and conflict-affected contexts. While efforts have been made to understand its conceptual underpinnings and operational challenges, the lived realities of implementing nexus approaches remain highly context-dependent and often politically and institutionally complex. Although important lessons have been learned, many dimensions of the nexus still require further exploration, critical reflection, and adaptation.

This panel invites presentations that reflect on the evolving practice and politics of the HDP nexus especially given the current global political and funding realities. Contributions may examine, among other topics, how nexus principles are interpreted and applied in specific operational settings; the governance and financing structures that shape cross-sector collaboration; or the ways in which local actors navigate or challenge nexus-based frameworks.

The panel also welcomes reflections on how today’s shifting aid landscape, including shrinking space to address growing humanitarian needs, is reshaping the relevance and feasibility of the nexus and collaboration across sectors. As calls for integration grow louder, it is crucial to reflect on what is driving integration, where, why and how it is happening, , for whom, and with what consequences.

This panel aims to foster an open and critical exchange across sectors and disciplines, inviting insights from practitioners, researchers, and policymakers. Contributions may be grounded in field experience, conceptual analysis, or institutional perspectives. Follow-up outputs may include blog posts and, depending on panellists’ interest, a joint publication on lessons learned.
