Health & Travel Advice

We would like to notify you that there is a Dengue outbreak in Dhaka at the moment.
Please consider the following measures:

Please consider the following measures:

  1. Pack Appropriate Clothing: Pack long-sleeved shirts, long pants, socks, and closed shoes to minimise exposed skin, which can reduce the risk of mosquito bites.
  2. Use Mosquito Repellent: Bring and use mosquito repellent containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus on exposed skin and clothing. Reapply as directed.
  3. Stay in Air-Conditioned or Screened Accommodations: Choose accommodations with air conditioning or properly screened windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out.
  4.  Use Mosquito Nets: If your accommodation does not have adequate mosquito control measures, use bed nets treated with insecticide.
  5. Eliminate Breeding Sites: In your accommodation, be vigilant about removing any stagnant water sources, such as vases, pots, or containers that may serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
  6. Travel Light: Minimize luggage with unnecessary pockets or folds where mosquitoes can hide during transport.
  7. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially in dengue-endemic areas. Dehydration can worsen dengue symptoms.
  8. Pack a First-Aid Kit: Include items such as pain relievers (not aspirin, as it can increase bleeding risk), antipyretics, and any prescribed medications you may need.
  9. Know the Symptoms: Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of dengue, such as high fever, severe headache, joint and muscle pain, rash, and bleeding, so you can seek prompt medical attention if needed.
  10. Avoid Overcrowded Areas: In areas with confirmed dengue outbreaks, try to avoid crowded places where the risk of exposure to infected mosquitoes is higher.
  11. Follow Local Health Guidelines: Pay attention to any travel advisories or health guidelines issued by local authorities and healthcare organisations at your destination.
  12. Keep Emergency Contact Information: Carry contact information for local healthcare facilities or clinics in case you need medical assistance.
